Cristián Larroulet Vignau es Ingeniero Comercial de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y Master of Arts en Economía de la Universidad de Chicago.
Actualmente es Director Ejecutivo del Centro de Estudios Libertad y Desarrollo, Decano de la Facultad de Economía y Negocio de la Universidad de Desarrollo y profesor de la misma universidad.
También es miembro de The Mont Pelerin Society (Octubre de 1996); miembro de número de la Academia Chilena de Ciencias Sociales, Políticas y Morales (Mayo de 2002); Consejero fundador de Fundación Internacional para la Libertad (FIL) presidida por Mario Vargas Llosa; Consejero de Generación Empresarial, Consejero de la Fundación Miguel Kast y Consejo Chile Transparente.
Ha publicado numerosos libros, artículos y documentos económicos, sobre temas tales como las privatizaciones, finanzas públicas y regulación económica.
En 1996 recibió el Premio Editorial Los Andes por su destacada trayectoria de servicio público y, en 1997, el Premio Generación Empresarial por su aporte a las políticas públicas del país.
En el año 2007 fue distinguido con el Premio Ingeniero Comercial, Fundación Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Ese mismo año recibió el Premio Educación - Empresa 2007, en la categoría "personalidad destacada" otorgado por la Confederación de la Producción y el Comercio CPC y el Ministerio de Educación

Cristián Larroulet Vignau was born in 1953 in Santiago, Chile. He graduated from the Faculty of Economy and Administration at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Pontific Catholic University of Chile) and holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago, United States of America.
Currently he performs as Executive Director at Libertad y Desarrollo (Institute for Liberty and Development), a private research and study center -a think tank- independent of any political, religious, business and governmental affiliations. The institute is dedicated to the analysis of public policies and to promoting the values and principles of a free society. He also serves as Dean and professor of economics at the Faculty of Business and Economy at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile.
In addition to his academic work, he has also held the following positions in the Chilean public sector: Chief of Staff of the Finance Minister, Mr. Hernán Buchi (1985-1989); member of the National Commission for Privatization in Chile (1985-1989); coordinator of the Economic Council, Ministry of Economy (1982-1985); Head of the Planning Department at the National Planning Office (1980-1982); Head ot the Antitrust Commission (1982-1984); and member of the Board of several public enterprises (1980-1989).
Mr. Larroulet has published numerous scholarly articles and his technical economic writings have dealt mostly with privatization, public finance and economic development. He has also published the following books: "Soluciones privadas a problemas públicos", (editor) published by Zig Zag (1993), winner of the Antony Fisher Award of the Atlas Economic Research Fountion in 1995; "El Gobierno de las Personas" (1999), and "Chile 2010: el desafío del desarrollo". He is also coauthor of the textbook "Economic" published by Mc Graw Hill, 1994.
He is a member of The Mont Pelerin Society, a member of standing at the Chilean Academy of Social, Political and Moral Sciences, advisor at the Businessman's Generation, Miguel Kast Foundation and a member of the Jury of the International Award "Templeton Miguel Kast", which endeavors to highlight those institutions involved in promoting solutions to the problem of poverty. He's also councilor founder of the International Foundation for Freedom (IBF) chaired by Mario Vargas Llosa.
In 1996, he was awarded the Editorial Award "Los Andes," highlighting his trajectory in the public sector and in 1997 he was awarded the Businessman Generation Award because of his contribution to the public politics of the country.
In 2007 he was honored with the Award Commercial Engineering, by the Economics and Administrative Sciences Foundation, from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. That same year, he was honored with the Award Education - Enterprise 1997 in the "Outstanding Class" by the Confederación de la Producción y del Comercio (CPC) and the Ministry of Education.
